The Jason L. Hamilton website is a digital business card that showcases his business consulting services, marketing experience, and brand-new published marketing book.
I led the branding and web design for the personal brand website, ensuring effective communication with the client regarding any necessary site enhancements.
The client sought a professional website to serve as a digital business card, effectively highlighting his marketing services, extensive experience as a consultant, and his published book. Additionally, the site functions as an extension of his marketing business and the Let’s Build Business classes, which informed the branding and design process.
Before designing the website, I started defining the brand for the personal website, using the colors the client wanted and drawing on his marketing business.
The primary colors for the brand are dark cool grey and light blue, with yellow, mauve, and silver as secondary colors to complement and contrast them.
Dejanire Headline, a serif, is used for display text such as headers, and FF Nort, a sans-serif, for paragraph text.
The graphic elements are outlined squares with similar line widths and can be linked up to 3 squares. These outlined squares can be used to decorate the space or as supporting elements for images. The brand uses business casual clothing and natural poses in its imagery. Imagery with unnatural poses, such as looking at the camera or pointing in a direction, cannot be used.
Icons are used to support text and are outlined with similar stroke widths.
After developing the brand, I concentrate on the design of the website, utilizing placeholders to arrange the graphic elements and images. Based on the copy, I also decide how each section is arranged on desktop and mobile pages. I use the brand guidelines to replace the placeholder with graphic elements and imagery after creating the initial layout for each page of the website.
